Continuing the series of conferences in Marburg 1993, Freiberg 1996, München 1998, Hamburg 2000, Magdeburg 2002, Karlsruhe 2004, Frankfurt 2006, Aachen 2008, Leipzig 2010, Mainz 2012, Ulm 2014 and Bochum 2016 the University of Freiburg organized with support of the DMV-Fachgruppe Stochastik e.V. the 13th German Probability and Statistics Days 2018 – Freiburger Stochastik-Tage. They took place from Tuesday, February 27th to Friday, March 2nd, 2018 at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg.


In the tradition of the previous conferences, this meeting has provided a leading international forum for presentation and discussion of latest developments in the area of probability and statistics including the highly interesting fields financial and insurance mathematics, machine learning, and data analysis.


Highlights of the conference ware plenary lectures by five outstanding researchers. Contributed talks were given in 12 sections devoted to specific topics; each section will contain one invited main talk. Over the last years, the ‟Stochastik-Tage” have been attracting an increasing number of participants from abroad. This year there has been an impressive number of almost 500 attendes and about 350 contributions to the scientific program.
